Artists in residence receive housing in one bedroom and a minimum of 12 hours of rehearsal time (in a mix of morning, daytime and evening hours, as available), each week of their stay. The bedroom includes access to a shared bathroom on the main floor and to the shower and kitchen in the basement. Artists in residence may apply as a solo artist or a small group of up to four or five members. Unfortunately, the residence itself is not yet fully handicap accessible but we do our best to try to help to find accessible accommodations for artists in need of them.
Light Box Artists in residence will receive support for one public showing and will be expected to offer one class, workshop, skill-share or discussion for our community. Whenever possible, out of town artists in residence will be paired with one or more Detroit-based artists to share the performance evening. Local, Detroit area artists are also encouraged to apply for the residency, with or without housing.
To apply, please send a 150 word description of the work you wish you support during your residency as well as links to any on-line documentation or work samples, to firstname.lastname@example.org
Please, also indicate for how many weeks you wish to stay.
The cost for the partially subsidized residency is $225/wk for the first person with an additional $45 per person per week.
